It pays to occasionally look over my archives as sometimes I find images that somehow escaped my initial selection process. I uploaded another version of this iceberg a few years ago which has become my most viewed image with 430,000+ views. I prefer this version with the new sculpted swiss-cheese iceberg framing the translucent one. I saw these icebergs on Lago Argentina in 2007.

These three granite towers (torres) are the center piece of the Torres del Paine National Park in the far south of Chile. A one hour hike before dawn took us to the base of these pinnacles which tower about 1500m (almost 1 mile) above this glacial lake.
Hypnotic Iceberg on Flickr.
This is my most viewed photo. Currently 432,827 views. It made the front page of both Stumbleupon and Digg and became my first virus.

Another view of the same iceberg I posted a while ago showing more of the surrounding context in Lake Argentina in Los Glaciares National Park. This iceberg is about 4m (12ft) high above the water.
I’ve never seen such clear glacial ice — especially illuminated with back light like this. On top of that I love the texture of this ice chipped like an ancient stone tool.
